What is Josie Basket Project?
Josie Basket Project was created by the family of Josie Amelia Edwards, who was born sleeping on 3/25/18. Her mommy, Amy Edwards, is the Patient Experience Coordinator at Vallee Health Repair.
JBP was founded in 2021 when they began putting together “Josie Baskets” to give to parents who leave Blessing Hospital without their child in their arms. These baskets include heartfelt items to help the parents and families heal both physically and mentally through their grief journey.
In 2023, they received their 501(c)(3) designation. Once they received their non-profit status, JBP expanded to Hannibal Regional Hospital and started mailing Josie Baskets nationwide to help families heal regardless of their physical location. They also offer grant money to parents struggling to pay for their child’s cremation or headstone at their grave. They also provide reading materials to parents who attend the Blessing Hospital Bereavement Support Group.
